Paving Project on Route 45 in Centre County Starts Monday, May 11

May 7, 2020

State College, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that a paving project on Route 45 in Potter Township, Centre County, is slated to begin Monday, May 11. This project will enhance safety, improve ride quality and extend the useful life of more than two miles of roadway.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site and relevant training.

Crews will be paving between Hoot Road and Bonnie Street. Flaggers in the roadway will enforce an alternating traffic pattern during daylight hours. Motorists are advised to anticipate minor delays and are urged to remain alert in construction zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.

Overall work consists of drainage improvements, base repair and roadway resurfacing. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $1 million project, which PennDOT anticipates completing by mid-June. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

Motorists are encouraged to “Know Before They Go” by checking conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 950 traffic cameras.
